Amiibo Exclusive Issues

It looks that everyone has bought into the Amiibo craze from Nintendo, myself included. However, in a turn of events that can only be done by Nintendo, that first they weren't sure if they were going to discontinue the less popular Amiibo. For those who don't know, the less popular Amiibo from Wave 1 is the Villager, Wii Fit Trainer, and Marth. Nintendo couldn't decide if they were discontinued or weren't. They finally came out and said that there will be less popular Amiibo phased out after their innitial sales window. Then Nintendo stated that these less popular Amiibo might be brought back into the fold and not be discontinued after-all. It looks like in typical Nintendo fashion, Nintendo didn't realize the want for these Amiibo. Surely, they wouldn't have this trouble again, would they?

There are certain Amiibo that will be store exclusive figures, which could be seen as a good thing as well as a bad thing. It could be seen as a good thing for the stores that will get people into said stores and buy other things in addition to the Amiibo figures. The issues I have is that some of these stores have already sold out on their pre-orders online and won't get anymore or won't allow anymore pre-orders. They could do what GameStop is rumored to be doing with the Shulk figure where they will only get the pre-orders and jack up the price on the next batch, not cool GameStop!

I'm not sure how I feel about store exclusives which is nothing new to the toy store game. When you used to actually get physical pre-order bonuses( how long ago was that, ha) each store used to have different things. This is still done with the likes of Toys R Us and Target as examples but not nearly as much as it used to be done,  in the good old days.

I really want to get my hands on a Villager Amiibo and would have grabbed it at the start if I wasn't sleeping at the wheel on that one. Stay tuned for Game of the Year 2014 from Nintentofive and this year is gonna be tough!( in terms of game selections)
