No Puck Luck For Devils

I've decided that it was time to add posts about my other passion to the Nintentofive Family, Hockey! I feel the same way towards hockey as I do Nintendo so why shouldn't I finally jump back into the National Hockey League blogging scene. I used to be an avid NHL Blogger but the NHL Connect site changed that I used to write on and left.

Let's Go Devils.

The first ten games haven't been something to write home about for Jersey's Team but luckily  most of the newly formed Metropolitan Division is struggling out of the gate. Unlike most of the teams struggling, the Devils have been able to get some points out of their losses but they're still losing games all the same. I, unlike most of the media, had high-hopes for this team but they have struggled out of the gate.Losing 9 out of their first ten games, either in OT or a shootout, the Devils can't afford to fall too far behind the leaders in the division, the Pens/Canes/Islanders. You read that right, the Islanders are off to a quick start. The issue for the Devs hasn't been the goalie play.( at times) The most recent game against the Canucks had poor goalie work from Corey Schneider, but he is injured now with a lower body injury so Albany goalie Keith Kinkaid has been brought up on Emergency Call-Up. Marty Brodeur will get the start in Boston tonight and like every team does, they break the season down into ten game blocks. The Devils will terrible in their first ten games by not holding leads, having massive break downs in their own end, terrible board play, and just not scoring goals.

Is the season lost? Let's hold off on jumping off the George Washington Bridge just yet. The Power play has scored goals in four straight games and the D pairings played pretty well last game against the Canucks. It good to see Larsson and Gelinas together on a pairing AND playing well together. Getting contributions from the Jagr/Elias line as well as the CBGB( Gionta/Carter/Bernier line) is a major bonus and they set the tone for the start of the game. They just have to start winning games and finding a way to score some timely goals.

What I've noticed:
Like in years past, the Western conference is at another level compared to the Eastern.
Corey Schneider has played well for the Devils but doesn't get the score support.
The Avalanche are on fire right now. Getting a top pick in the draft for a few years will do that.
Rangers have yet to play a home game yet and Halloween is this week.

I was expecting a gigantic hit from John Scott on Loui Eriksson but it was one of those blind side elbow things. The way the Internet was talking about it, I was waiting for a major boarding call.

You can't take fighting out of the game!

If the league would allow the players to police themselves like they used to, their would be less of these issues. If a player had to worry about getting hit coming across the blue line with his head down, he wouldn't do it anymore.
