Wii U University closing its doors

We have reached the end of a "so-so" era in Nintendo gaming. I am referring to the Wii U and it's "so-so" sale numbers and products. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is going to be the last Nintendo produced game for the Wii U and in turn signals the end of the system. The system isn't getting brought out behind the barn and shot, there will still be games for sale for the system. The online features of the system will still be around such as online multiplayer for the likes of Mario Kart 8 and Super Smash Brothers. It looks like it's all hands on deck for the Switch, with every viable option working on games and other things for the system.

It's a shame because the Wii U never really got a fair shake. The marketing for it was terrible since people not immersed with Nintendo couldn't tell the difference between the two systems. There was also the lack of people knowing the system was something different from the Wii. The main theme of the Wii U was that it was trying to get the "hard core" gamer back that the Wii/other Nintendo systems had lost. I am a Nintendo purest and really don't need to be convinced to purchase a Nintendo system. The way the Wii U was perceived, the system needed to change the mind of several "on-the-fence" game players.

Now as everyone at Nintendo are moving on to the Switch, it will be interesting to see how the company moves forward. Will the online service for the Switch be adequately priced and will they add a Virtual Console service at some point? Will the system be able to tread water with LOZ: Breath of the Wild as the catalyst carrying the system until Mario Kart 8 Deluxe/Splatoon 2/ and Super Mario Odyssey are available? Will Nintendo eventually decide to lower the prices of accessories for the Switch since at the launch, they look like they're way overpriced. It's gonna be a fun time for Nintendo and their fans! Could we get a new Snow Brothers and a real Mario RPG apart from the Paper Mario games. I don't see either coming but I can dream!

For one of the last times-Go Wii U Fighting Crayfish!
