Switch Thoughts

The Nintendo Switch presentation was last night and some juicy info was left in its wake. For starters, we finally got the release date for the Switch as well as the price. It will be launching March 3rd at retail for $299.99$. This isn't that bad of a price considering what consoles in the past have launched for. Nintendo has always tried to keep their prices low enough to get the most out of their efforts. Another way to get the most out of their efforts is to release games people want to play. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild will be a launch title alongside the system and Super Mario won't be too far off. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is scheduled for an April release but Super Mario Odyssey won't be coming state-side until the next holiday season. A successful launch needs great games and Nintendo is banking on selling Switch units with the Legend of Zelda. Splatoon 2, Bomberman, Arms, and much more will be following the example that the Legend of Zelda sets.Another interesting thing is that Nintendo has built into the Joy Con controller a capture button. It's nice to see Nintendo getting into the likes of showing off screen shots to your friends using social media, similar to the PS4 share button. It was also mentioned that Nintendo is going to start a paid online service for the Switch, to play games online. There isn't much info pertaining to this online service but it sounds like it will start out free and then when the service is ready, Nintendo will implement the fees. Subscribers will get to download a Super Nintendo/Nintendo game for free each month but will have to buy the full version to keep it after the month. The classic games are said to have new features added in. I'm not sure how many people are going to want to pay for online features when they haven't had to in the past. Other systems/companies have already done this to their followers but Nintendo was slowly putting this plan into action with the likes of DLC add ons and minor in game purchases. Only time will tell if this is/was a good business move for Nintendo.

Top games of the presentation/trailers released right after:
Super Mario Odyssey
Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
Splatoon 2
Xenoblade Chronicles 2( no mention if coming to USA)
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
Arms
Sonic Mania
